1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using yTranslate, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

2. Description of service

yTranslate provides real-time speech recognition and translation: for rooms in which a speaker is heard by one or more listeners, each in their own chosen language; for face-to-face conversations on one device in Conversational Mode; and for understanding someone speaking near you in a language you don’t know.

3. Eligibility

yTranslate is not directed at children under 16. You must be 16 or older to create an account or make a purchase, or the applicable minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher. Listening in a room with a code does not require an account.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period unless cancelled in advance through your App Store or Google Play account settings, depending on where you subscribed. Pay-as-you-go credit purchases are one-time, non-recurring charges. All purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their standard store terms — not directly by us. Credit charges are based on your speaking time under typical conversational use; as a fair-use safeguard, an account generating an unusually high volume of translated text relative to its actual speaking time may be charged additional credits reflecting that usage.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use yTranslate to transmit unlawful, harassing, or infringing content, and not to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service.

6. Other people’s speech

yTranslate transcribes and translates whatever is spoken into a room. Before you use it in a conversation, meeting, service or event, you are responsible for making sure everyone whose words may be captured knows this and, where the law requires it, has agreed. Laws on recording and transcribing conversations vary widely, and in many places require the consent of every participant, not only the person holding the phone. This applies with particular force if you turn on Save notes, which keeps a written record of what other people said on your device, and if you share or export that record. We provide the tool; you are responsible for using it lawfully and fairly toward the people you use it with.

7. Intellectual property

The yTranslate name, mark, and app are owned by us. You retain rights to the content of your own speech; you grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the translation service.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

yTranslate is provided "as is." Automated speech recognition and translation may contain errors, and yTranslate should not be relied upon for safety-critical, medical, or legal communication.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, yTranslate is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including translation errors or service interruptions.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time, and you can delete your account at any time from within the app; our Privacy Policy explains what is removed and when.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections you’re entitled to in your country of residence.

14. Apple End User License Agreement

If you downloaded yTranslate from the Apple App Store, your use of the app is also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, in addition to these Terms.
